Coach Luther is well respected in the field of education and basketball. His "Get On Target" programs have been well received by hundreds of schools, businesses and service clubs. He also speaks at athletic banquets with his topic "Success and You" and still has time "To Help the Homeless" with his fund-raising projects. he has spoken to many groups on the effects of actually being homeless. Coach Luther experienced homelessness for 24 hours on three different occasions and as a result was presented the Richard Lewandowski Humanitarian Award by the Wisconsin Education Association Council for his efforts in raising not only money but awareness of the plight of the homeless.
