OUR SCHOOL
MISSION STATEMENT
Uniting hearts and
hands in Jesus Christ, Risen Savior Lutheran School exists to educate children and equip
parents as active life-long learners of Gods world through Gods Word. |
 |
Risen Savior Evangelical Lutheran School, located in
Milwaukees Historic Granville community, opened in the fall of 2003 with 50 students
in grades K4 to 3 and has grown to serve over 200 students in K4 to 8th grade today.
As a participant in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, Risen Savior provides an
excellent educational choice for a densely populated neighborhood. In a compact
geographical area populated by thousands of low-income African-American and Hispanic
children under the age of 18, Risen Savior seeks to significantly increase our stabilizing
presence to families by offering a Christ-centered research-based curriculum made
accessible to all students by caring, talented teachers and innovative instructional
methods.
The Outreach / Inclusion model of learning is built on the foundation of forgiveness found
only through Jesus Christ and driven by the twin biblical principles of reaching out to
"all nations" with the gospel and including "all nations" in the
ministry. By continuing to cultivate and maintain a network of community allies, Risen
Savior is able to more quickly and effectively succeed in its mission to neighborhood
families.
In order for every childs needs to be served, teachers operate with the idea that
every child has "special needs" unique to them as an individual. The needs of
the individual child are also viewed in the context of the needs of the entire family and
community, requiring the faculty and staff to have a passion for ministry that can only
flow from regular, intensive study of Gods Word every day. Opportunities abound for
each child to succeed on their way to meeting high behavioral and academic standards.
Children are taught to evaluate their past, present, and future and view them as
interconnected elements of Gods "big picture" for their lives.
Applications of Basic skills and Concepts to the broader framework of each childs
life are integral to the successful climate of the school. Progress in all objectives and
standards is measured by regular assessments in order to regularly and consistently inform
and improve instruction to the individual student and family.
WHY ARE WE QUALIFIED TO PROVIDE
A QUALITY EDUCATION?
Risen Savior Lutheran Church is a member of the Wisconsin
Evangelical Lutheran Synod, a global church body, which has a 150-year tradition of
providing quality Christian education (including elementary schools, high schools and
teacher training colleges). We operate the fourth largest private school system in the United States and the second largest
non-public school system in Milwaukee with over 40 affiliated schools
in the Metro-Milwaukee area.
WHAT IS THE MILWAUKEE PARENTAL CHOICE PROGRAM?
In 1990, the State of Wisconsin expanded the educational options
of parents in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Parental
Choice Program lets children attend private schools at state expense. Milwaukee families with incomes at or
below 175% of the poverty level are eligible. You can find more information on the Choice
