Saturday Mornings: At the Shambhala CenterJust what is it that goes on during Saturday morning down at the center? Who is invited to come and is it really only for weekend warriors? Well.... meditation, a reading and discussion; everyone, no.
Newcomers may find this a simple introduction to the center and the Shambhala teachings. Meditation instruction is always available. Many like the opportunity to engage in the free wheeling discussion while others like the regular touch stone of practice and gentle warriorship. A few of us like the social content of a cup of coffee or tea afterwards.
Starting at 9:00 there is a half hour of practice followed by a short reading from Shambhala the Sacred Path of the Warrior. An informal discussion ensues, concluding by 10:30. If the buss doesn't drop you off till 9:15 that's just fine. If you need to leave early for an appointment that's OK too. Some people come only once and a while and others more often.
Consider this an invitation to drop by any Saturday. Why not this very weekend?

Discovering Basic Goodness: Class 2
The practice of meditation -- looking directly at our own personal
experience -- is the only way to discover our fundamental human capabilities.
Gentleness and Fearlessness: Class 3
Connecting with our heart gives birth to gentleness and fearlessness.
The Warrior's Discipline: Class 5
From the warrior's sensitivity, he renounces those things that separate
him from others. Out of this the warriors discipline is born.
Sacred View and Nowness: Class 6
When we synchronize mind and body we experience the world directly,
which brings appreciation of the here and now.
Level II - Birth of the Warrior Acknowledging fear is not a cause for depression or discouragement. Because we possess such fear, we also are potentially entitled to express fearlessness. True fearlessness is not the reduction of fear; but going beyond fear.*
Level III - Warrior in the World What the warrior renounces is anything in his experience that is a barrier between himself and others. In other words, renunciation is making yourself more available, more gentle and open to others.*
Level IV - Awakened Heart Through the practice of sitting still and following your breath as it goes out and dissolves, you are connecting with your heart. By simply letting your self be, as you are, you develop genuine sympathy towards yourself.*
Level V - Open Sky When you live your life in accordance with
basic goodness, then you develop natural elegance. Your life can be spacious
and relaxed, without having to be sloppy. You can actually let go of your
depression and embarrassment about being a human being, and you can cheer
up.*
Open to those who have completed Level V.Drala
Any perception can connect us to reality properly and fully. What we see doesn't have to be pretty, particularly; we can appreciate anything that exists. There is some principle of magic in everything, some living quality. Something living, something real, is taking place in everything.*WindhorseWhen you express gentleness and precision in your environment, then real brilliance and power can descend onto that situation. If you try to manufacture that presence out of you own ego, it will never happen. You cannot own the power and the magic of this world. It is always available, but it does not belong to anyone.*Level B -- MeekThe warrior of meek has abandonded gain, victory , and fame, leaving them far behind.*PerkyThe warrior of perky is never caught in the trap of doubt and is always joyful and artful.*Outrageous & InscrutableThe warrior of outragious is never caught in the ambush of hope, and therefore fearlessness is achieved. The vision of inscrutability is to creat an orderly and powerful world full of gentle energy.*Golden Key Open to those who have completed Level DWhen you are fully gentle, without arrogance and without aggression, you see the brilliance of the universe. You develop a true perception of the universe.** from Shambhala; The Sacred Path of the Warrior by Chogyam Trungpa
