CONSOLE / MONITORS / MICROPHONES

Mixing Console:

(2) cascaded Yamaha 02R V2 consoles with 80 inputs. These consoles feature 8 aux sends per channel with full dynamics, EQ, and F/X sends, fully automated with moving faders. The automation is second to none. Virtually every move you make can be recorded and recalled in an instant, saved and recalled at a later date. With the power of this automation in a console you get all the flexibility in a DAW but also the ease and efficiency of doing all your moves on a tactile surface. Sometimes volume curves, pan, etc. can be time consuming if 'drawn' in with a DAW via software. Having ALL of the parameters controlled by the console leads to unparalleled efficiency.

So, whether you have tracked your project here or at another studio,
the mixdown ability Nexus offers is absolutely second to none!!!

    Computer Devices

    COMPUTER EQUIPMENT:

Nexus uses Mark of the Unicorn Digital Performer as its primary recording program running on a Apple Mac G5 system. For some years I ran a Digidesign ProTools III system, which was a great system, but realized that with the level of outboard gear I already had, coupled with a fully automated console, the dependency on a DSP assisted DAW was not necessary. What was necessary was a DAW with maximum uptime with extremely stable operations and all if not most of the editing capability of ProTools. I found this in Digital Performer................Pat Lilley, Owner, Nexus Recording Studio Ltd.

    Control Room Computers:

    • Mac G5 Dual Core PCI, 10.5G ram, Dual 24" Monitors
    • Mac G4 2G ram
    • Pentium 4 3Mhz 512k ram, Dual 19" Monitors
    • Pentium 3 (dedicated to MIDI system & O2R backup operations)
    • Mac 8100 Power PC (dedicated to monitoring DSP)

    Control Room Computer Interfaces:

    • (1) MOTU 2408MKIII
    • (2) MOTU 2408KMII
    • Digidesign Audio Media II
    • M-Audio 8X8 MIDI Interface
    • Music Quest 8Port/SE

    Miscellaneous Computer:

A Mac G4 PowerBook for remote recording, a 64 bit AMD powered PC laptop for remote recording and video editing, over a terabyte of storage, Plextor 2448 CD writer, Plextor PX-810UF DVD writer as well as legacy backup devices, Iomega, Bernoulli, Iomega Jaz and Zip drives, SyQuest drives, etc.

    Editing Room Computers:

The primary computer in this room is an Intel Dual core with 2G ram, a Matrox Parhelia triple head graphics card for 2 editing 24" monitors and 1 preview monitor for WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) preview for video editing running Adobe Premier video editing software. Also in this room is a SCSI based P3 computer for transfers and a Mac G3 Rev B for transfers and interface of legacy devices.
