What is Postal Librariana? Postal librariana is a term that I use to describe postal artifacts related to libraries. These artifacts include postage stamps, covers (envelopes), and postal cards. Also included are picture postcards, if they have gone through the mail and the message on the card has a connection to libraries, and letters or the contents of envelopes even if the envelope is missing. Postal librariana is a specialized area of collecting under the broader heading of librariana. Postal librariana is also a sub-theme of bibliophilately which includes collecting postage stamps and covers with book, printing, reading, and other sub-themes in addition to libraries. I have created an exhibit of a portion of my postal librariana collection for showing at stamp shows. |
