Consider setting up your computer with a dual operating systems. The vast majority of people use WIN/95 as there OS. They like the user interface and the vast amount of software.
The down side to Win/95 is that it seams to have a mind of it's own. Plug and play has a way to go before it works like it should. Win/95 file system FAT ( File Allocation Table ) tends to get corrupted very easily. Win/95 is almost impossible to repair if your Registry becomes corrupted.
In my opinion. The back up software that is on the market dose not restore the system to the original configuration. Most people just reinstall the OS and start over.
Here is some Advantage of Red Hat Linux
Stability of the system. If
a application crashes the system dose not ( no need to reboot) Just
"kill" the application.
The OS can be repaired. The
RPM ( Red Hat Program Management ) can replace missing or corrupted system
files. No more of the Phantom DLL files.
Better system management, Memory
hard drive video.
Great Internet Applications
are included Netscape, Pine, Elm, Finger, Telnet, FTP.
You still can keep Win95 on your machine. Lets be honest we love some Applications and games. With a dual boot you can keep them.
If you like Microsoft "Office". You will feel at home with Applix, a office suite that you can install with Redhat.
