About Dr. Hamsher Dr. Hamsher obtained his doctorate in psychology (through the clinical psychology training program) from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He completed an internship in clinical neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology and the Section of Neurosurgery, and completed a residency in clinical neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, under the supervision of Dr. Arthur L. Benton, Professor of Psychology and Neurology. Dr. Hamsher is a Diplomate (is board certified) in Clinical Neuropsychology (American Board of Professional Psychology) and is a certified examiner for the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology. He has had overall responsibility for all oral and written board certification examinations in the specialty of clinical neuropsychology since 1991. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN) and the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (AAPCN). He has served as Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee of the American Psychological Associations Division of Clinical Neuropsychology (Division 40) and as a member of the Board of Governors of the International Neuropsychological Society (INS). He represented the specialty of clinical neuropsychology on the Inter-organizational Council for the Accreditation of Postdoctoral Programs in Psychology (IOC). Presently, he is the Interim Chair of the Council of Specialties (CoS), the convocation of representatives of all the specialties and their major organizations in professional psychology.
