Harry Chapin is one of my favorite artists. You'll
surely recall such hits as Cats in the Cradle, Taxi,
W.O.L.D., and Sequel.
Harry devoutly believed in helping others. He devoted much of his time
to raising money to fight world hunger and social oppression. During his
career, he donated over five million dollars to charity.
On his way to a benefit concert in 1981, Chapin died in a car crash on
the Long Island Expressway. I vividly recall the news broadcasts and the
sadness I felt at the time. We lost one of the most sincere and talented
entertainers of our generation. |
