The Morton 3 was offerred in the early 80's as an alternative to the many boxy homogenous offerrings of Detroit and Japan by the Morton Car Co. It was likely  a development of another kit called the XK-1 from the Texas company, Western Front. Distinguishing features
between the two include an intake on the rear fender of the Morton and a different roofline, the original from Western Front has a more squared-off hatch section in the rear. It may be that Morton acquired the molds after Western Front folded in 1980 or so, regardless the
similarities between the two are hard to ignore.

The Morton 3 was built on a Jig welded steel frame and offered a wide range of options for power. Among them, VW bug, Porsche, Mazda rotary, or electric. The cars front and rear suspension are independent and VW bug steering gear is used. For brakes a drum unit is used up front, with disc brakes at the the rear.

The bodies were hand laid fiberglass with steel reinforcement at key stress points. It featured gullwing doors and very  angular styling. The front wheel is hidden under a cowl so that only the bottom of it shows. A molded "character line" runs through the whole midsection of the body from front to rear.

By all accounts it was a rather difficult build, requiring more than a little fabrication on the part of the owner. It was,
however, guaranteed to turn heads wherever it went. To the best of my knowledge the Morton3 is no longer produced. Like many kits of the 80's, it fell by the wayside. It is an
extremely rare vehicle, of which maybe 30 or 40 were
produced.
