The kit mags recently reported on this kit,
from Simpson Design, based on the Mazda
Miata. It's sort of a retro Ferrari inspired
look, complete with a interior kit that includes
a burlwood dash. I personally think it's a very
clever and stylish conversion. Surprisingly, it's
one of the few conversions for the Miata.
I think the Miata would make an excellent
donor for a kit or custom and nowadays they
can be had relatively cheaply.

I was recently made aware of some new
developments concerning the Laser 917.
Beginning in April of 97, Haines Coachworks
began producing replacement parts for the kit. They are also selling complete 917c kits.
Called the Synchro 917, it features a handlaid
fiberglass body of a higher quality than the
original. The complete kit is priced at $8900.

I would also like to do an article on
the Kellison J4. Anyone who owns one
and has pictures / info is invited to
contribute. I think this was prabably the
most important kit of it's era and, short of the Devins, the most successful in
competition. Please send Jpeg's if
possible. That will make my day!
