CUTTING OFF THE EDGE OF TIME features the duet improvisations of tenor saxophonist Steve Nelson-Raney and drummer Jon Mueller. Beautifully recorded during an evening session at Penumbra Music by Chris Rosenau (Jon Mueller's partner in the groups Pele, Telecognac, and Collections of Colonies of Bees), these duets demonstrate their unique collective voice, carving out common ground in a set of seven closely attentive duets. On drums and tenor saxophone, the sharpness of their attack and quickness of their interplay are vivid celebrations of the elasticity of time and the fluidity of dialogue.

The titles of this disc and of these seven improvisations are inspired by the poem "Falling" by Bob Kaufman, published in his City Lights collection Golden Sardine (1975).

This CD is released in a limited edition of 500 copies.
