Moondance Rags and Kauffman Kats are two small catteries that work closely with each other. We are dedicated to producing the healthiest, 
most beautiful, well adjusted Ragdoll kittens possible. We are not a large cattery. We keep 6 or less females and therefore can spread the litters out over the year, so each can have all of our attention.
The Ragdoll is a pointed cat (color on the head, legs and tail), and comes in the standard colors of Seal, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Red and Cream. The patterns available are: the regular Color Point, Mitted (with white mitts). Bicolor (with white legs and an inverted white V on the face), Lynx (Tabby markings in the pointed areas) and Tortie (red splotches in the color pointed areas). The Chocolate and Lilac were so rare, that recently they had to be reintroduced into the Ragdoll breed through out crossing to various other breeds. Moondance Rags and Kauffman Kats have chosen not to work with these colors due to the number of outcrosses needed to have a working number of lilac or chocolate cats, and the problems that it creates.
Some
breeders are also offering Solid, or Self Colored Ragdolls, saying that they were back in the beginning of the Ragdoll history, so they are Ragdolls also. Most of the Ragdoll society does not agree with these breeders, which is why the Solid Ragdoll is not accepted for Championship. The Ragdoll was first accepted in all the Registration Clubs as a pointed breed, and the Ragdoll is still considered a pointed breed by the majority of the Ragdoll breeders. Moondance Rags and Kauffman Kats do not have or sell Solid Ragdolls or White colorpoint carriers. We feel the Solid Ragdolls do not look like a pedigree Ragdoll cat. It is hard to tell them from a regular house cat. The pointed pattern is part of what 'makes' a Ragdoll.
Ragdoll kittens are born all white, and it takes several days for the color to begin to come in. It starts on the ears and the nose. Usually by 2 or 3 days we can tell if it will be a bicolor or not. If the nose is still a bright pink by three days, and we aren't expecting a red or cream in the litter, then we know we have a bicolor kitten. The colors...seal, blue, chocolate or lilac may take a while longer.
Trying to tell a plain colorpoint kitten from a mitted kitten then takes longer, because the feet are the last to color in. Sometimes too, the color around the inverted V on the Bicolor will take a while to color in enough to see if it will be even.
Of course, certain breedings will produce only certain colors and patterns, so sometimes it is possible for us to know ahead what we will get. For example, a blue colorpoint bred to a blue colorpoint will only produce blue colorpoints.
So don't be impatient when a breeder tells you that they do not know yet what they have in their litter. Colors and shades of colors can vary in depth, so some take longer to identify than others.
By the time you get your kittens, they will have their patterns developed, but by no means will they be done getting in their full color. That will happen up till the cat is about 2 years old, or even longer. 
Ragdolls also keep growing until they are about 4 years old. They will attain their full height at about 2 years old, but from then on, they will "fill out" and get more massive in their body frame, which will make them appear even larger. The average male is about 15 lbs or larger, and the female is 10-12 lbs or larger. It depends on the lines they come from. Some cats grow fast, and will reach a weight of 15 lbs by 8 months, but then stay there until they are over 2 years old. Some grow slowly from the beginning, but keep growing until they are fully mature. Some lines run larger than others. If you want a larger cat, then you are better off getting a male.
Visiting I do allow people who are serious about wanting to purchase one of my kittens to visit my cats, but only when I have a litter due, or kittens available. My cattery is my home, and a constant 
stream of people coming and going is one of the hardest parts of breeding. I love people and I'm proud of my cats, but breeding and family takes up most of my time. I found in the past, that if I didn't have a litter due and I allowed people to visit, they would come see my cats and then put a deposit down sight-unseen on someone else's kitten. They were using my house to see what a Ragdoll was, but wouldn't wait for a kitten from me. So please, be polite and remember that we are not like a store, open certain hours a day for anyone to come browsing.
So, if you are serious, you are more than welcome to visit
at the proper time and see my cats and how the kittens are raised. Once the kittens are born, I usually allow the new owners to visit starting at about 5 weeks of age. If you are close enough and want to come again before they go home with you, that's fine with me. It gives me a chance to get to know you, and we can talk about the kittens and I can answer any questions you have. It's much more relaxed and enjoyable than the busy, excited time when you come to take your kitten home.
