The 2003 Monday night softball team may have been the greatest team I've ever assembled.
Newcomers Shane, Jumbo and Mike were enormous additions to the team. Larry did not return, but came back to play with us for the last five games. We finished 11-3 and in second place. To say we got absolutely screwed by the umpire in a 10-9 loss is putting it mildly. However, we lost twice to the first place team which sealed our doom. This season showcased some of the best batting numbers ever. Several players hit over .600 and we scored the most runs we've ever scored in a season. Shane would probably take MVP honors, hitting an unconscienciable .750 despite missing three games. Dish had a dream season, Leroy had a great year and I came back from my knee injury to play left centerfield again. Of course, ASA HOF player Paul Wenzel was a great substitute when we were short-handed, with 7 HR's and 25 RBI in only 24 AB's. Since the Union Station is now boarded up, Ivee's will probably be our new sponsor in 2004.
