The orchestra program at Mitchell Fine Arts Middle School is well known for its high musicality and quality of performances. The Mitchell Fine Arts Strings, an after school group, have traveled to music festivals in Cincinatti, Ohio; Minneapolis, Minnesota; St. Louis, Missouri, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Mitchell string players have also performed at the State Music Educators Convention in Madison, Wisconsin. The Mitchell Orchestras are under the direction of Mr. David Eisch. Orchestra students have the opportunity to perform with grade level orchestras, the Fine Arts Strings, and various chamber groups for the district solo/ensemble festival in March. In addition to the numerous national music festivals, Mitchell string players have performed for many school functions, elementary and holiday tours, community luncheons, and other events. Many Mitchell string students take private lessons and consistently achieve superior ratings at district and state contests.
