When I went back to Philmont in 1988, I went out in early May and spent the month in Red River. I stayed with a friend, Hans, who I worked with at Philmont during the 1970's. He loved the mountains so much that he moved out here to live. So here's a few pictures of the things we did in May before the season started at Philmont.

They run jeep tours out of Red River and one of Hans' friends let us tag along for free on an outing. We drove up to Baldy Town, stopping at the gate.
