In 1988 I was the Camp Director at Urraca Mesa Camp. The program was the Challenge Course, which was a series of problem-solving exercises to help the crews learn about teamwork and working together. The lessons were disguised as fun, physical activities. In the evening we did the Philmont Story Campfire, and a lot of people thought we had the best campfire on the ranch. That's always debatable, but it was great to have some people think that way. It was a great summer, and below are some of my best pictures from Urraca Mesa. We were the staff there in 1988, and for one summer of our lives, Urraca Mesa belonged to us.

Bear trap. That bear was all over the place yet I never saw him the whole summer. Never did catch him.
