A portable sawmill and solar powered dry kilns produce very high quality lumber. Boards can easily be manufactured into flooring, molding, furniture, and other finished products to add tremendous value to logs from a local forest. Owners can work with the cooperative to sell their wood as finished retail products for maximum profit.

Regular Income: Increased timber prices and higher demand for wood now allows us to harvest timber in small quantities, rather than having to sell your whole forest at one time, to produce a steady flow of income for the forest owner. Selective harvesting lets us maximize the value attained from every single tree. Sustained Yield Harvesting is periodically cutting just the annual growth of the forest, while always improving the standing inventory of timber.

Skidding with horses is an old fashioned method that now allows us to implement 'state of the art' sustainable timber management plans. The biggest advantage is skidding single trees with very little disturbance to the forest. Big machines damage the forest in many ways when trying to move a lot of wood at one time. Precision directional felling and full utilization of every tree also are important to good management. Timber Stand Improvement is also important during harvest.
