HUNTING FOR BIG BUCKS ON YOUR LAND
Leasing hunting rights is becoming big business on private forest land. There is very high demand for a special place to hunt, and many people are willing to pay for the right to hunt.

Mike Brown is one of our new friends who loves to hunt at Timbergreen Farm. He and Barb return every year to enjoy part of our land, and help us control our overpopulated white tail deer herd. He shot this big 10 point buck several years ago, falling within sight of the nice buck Barb had just shot (it's feet are in the photo).
We have enjoyed getting to know them over the years. Its nice to know who is hunting in the back 40 of the farm. Leasing extra land to repeat hunters is a very beneficial program for landowners.

This stunted white oak tree has been eaten off year after year by hungry white tail deer. This twelve inch tree should be twelve feet tall by now if allowed to grow. German foresters only allow approximately one deer per two square miles, and shoot any extra deer that are damaging the timber crops they manage.
Forestry in this region is severely hindered by the high population of deer. After years of creating better wildlife habitat, many forest owners are now realizing that those deer are actually do more damage than good. You need to decide, do you want more deer or young trees.

Leasing land that you do not hunt on is one way to increase your income and limit your deer herd. We receive $400 per forty acres for the nine day gun season here ( two to three hunters per forty). If you allow turkey hunting and bow hunting, you can easily get $600 per forty for the combined season. This allows you better control of who is on your land and minimizes the hassles of the hectic hunting season.
We have each person sign a contract that releases us of liability, and spells our our requirements for using our property. Home page
