Certifying forestry - page 4

After reading the information on Forest Stewardship Council accredited certification from Smart Wood and SCS, I am very impressed that their requirements are state of the art - 1997 - sustainable forestry.  This certification goes way beyond any existing private forestry program that I have seen here in Wisconsin, to promote true future oriented sustainable forestry and logging.  The results of better markets and higher prices for certified forest products rewards sustainable management in a positive way. 

The best summary I can offer is that if Certification can bring about forest management on small woodlots like we were shown on the twice certified Menominee forest, then this program will be very good for Wisconsin.
