Women’s Senior/Masters Racquetball National Championships 2010

The 21st annual Women’s Senior/Masters Racquetball National Championships will be held in the Washington, DC area at The Lakeforest Sport and Health Club in Gaithersburg, MD Jan15-17, 2010 with fun doubles on Jan 14. The tournament is open to all women 35 and over in both open/A and B/C divisions. It is an age-group, round-robin tournament held over only 2.5 days, from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. You are never out of this round-robin tournament, and will play usually 5 up to ten or more matches.

The host hotel will be the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg. See the hotel web site at http://www.higaithersburg.com. You can fly into Reagan Washington National (DCA), Dulles International (IAD), or Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). These airports are all within an hour or less of the hotel. You will probably get the best fares to BWI, while Reagan National is on the Metrorail, which gets you within about 3 miles of the hotel. All the airports are served by the Super Shuttle 1-800 BLUE VAN (258-3826), (http://www.supershuttle.com/)

The hotel is only about 3 miles from the famed Washington DC Metrorail system, on which you can easily travel to the area attractions such as the Smithsonian Institution’s many museums, The National Gallery, the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the new Capitol Visitor Center and much more. There are many great places to shop and dine. Check out all there is to do at http://www.washington.org/ or http://seewashingtondc.net/capital.htm. You are also only about an hour from Baltimore, with the harbor area and National Aquarium. Or travel to Annapolis or Williamsburg.

There is a lot of great shopping in the area of the club, including the nearby Lakeforest Mall and the famous White Flint Mall in Bethesda, just a short Metro ride away.
