With the coming of Fall
the racquetball season is in full swing! I hope you are enjoying great
Fall weather and finding time for racquetball. I have a few items of
interest for you.
21st Annual
Women's Senior/Masters Racquetball National Championships set for Jan 15-17,
2010 (doubles Jan 14)
Our Women's
Senior/Masters Racquetball National Championships will be January 15-17, 2010
at the Lake Forest Sport and Health Club in Gaitherburg, MD. As usual,
fun doubles to benefit Breast Cancer Research will be held on Jan 14. The
tournament directors are Brenda Loube and Kafren Denu. Check out
our web site www.wsmra.com for tournament information, a flyer to post, the
entry form. Enter online
at http://www.r2sports.com/tourney/home.asp?TID=6067. It is
hard to believe we are starting our 3rd decade of this great tournament. Plan
to come and bring some friends. We are excited to be back on the East
Coast, and the site is near Washington, DC, which will give you lots of
opportunities for touring.
Seniors and
Masters featured in Racquetball Magazine
I hope you all had a
chance to check out the Summer issue of Racquetball Magazine, devoted in part
to Seniors and Masters. Our Board member and past tournament
director Debbie Tisinger was featured on the cover! The WSMRA was
featured along with the other organizations (NMRA, World Seniors and Classic
Tour) devoted to the "older"player. There are many great
articles for the Senior Players. You can preview it
at http://www.usra.org/Portals/18/docs/magazinepreview/rballmagsummer2009preview.pdf.
I submitted an article with first-person accounts from some of our
players on how they learned to play and why the love racquetball. The
article was too long for the magazine, so it is on our web site at
www.wsmra.com under (see the link to Stories.pdf). It is a real
"living history" of racquetball development and I again thank
everyone who wrote up their experiences.
