The Educators Consortium brings together teachers and coordinators involved in school district programs for highly able students. Meetings focus on activities that include:

  • demonstration of curriculum;

  • discussion of program practices;

  • and consideration of the value of recent research to gifted learners.

Meetings are held when presenters and new information are available and pertinent.

Consortium meetings and services are available without charge to education professionals. If you are not presently on the mailing list, contact The Center and give the address where you would like information sent to you about meetings and services.

Services offered to members of the Consortium include the opportunity to preview materials appropriate for work with gifted learners. Teachers or coordinators who have a materials allowance like to learn about materials before purchase, and they may either visit The Center to examine items or check with Center staff about the effectiveness of items.

In addition, educators are notified in advance about current Center events. They may use this information within their school districts to give parents resources and options for their exceptionally able children.

Consultation about current education practices as they apply to gifted learners is available with Center staff. Currently, Donna Held offers an in-service on using literature circles with gifted learners in the regular classroom. For more information, contact her at WCGL.
