Out of the Blue

June 30 through July 18, Monday through Thursdays and Friday, July 18
from 8:30 am - 12:00

Join us for an Out of the Ordinary Adventure!

Troubled Blue Waters Available to students
8 - 10 years of age

Come and sail with us back to the 17th and 18th centuries to encounter the scoundrels of the seas. We will learn the differences and similarities of the terms privateer, buccaneer, and pirate as we meet Captains Drake, Morgan, and Blackbeard.

We are looking for some skilled attorneys and reliable witnesses for the upcoming trial of Captain William Kidd. He is hoping the verdict will be a bit different from the one given three centuries ago!

Blue Illusions Available to students
7 - 9 years of age

Bend it, reflect it, project it, and record it.

Take wing with us as we soar through the investigation of the science of light, color, and vision.

We will light upon new ways of viewing prisms, lenses, photograms, shadow puppets, and rainbow-like kaleidoscopes. Perhaps your eyes will flutter with tricky optical illusions. See how fantastic light can be!

Story time 'Blues' Available to students
5 - 6 years of age

Can stories make you feel blue? Azure? Sapphire?

Join us as we dive into books that splash and ripple with hues of blues.

We will be guided by The Legend of the Blue Bonnet, Alice's Blue Cloth, Peter in Blueberry Land, and Blueberries for Sal as we explore the colorful characters and vibrant settings of each tale.

Jump into a summer sea of deep blue fun!

Profitable Blueprints Available to students
10 - 12 years of age

Join us as we explore some of the forces at work beneath the surface of our world. Watch how order emerges out of the blue. Tooling around via computers, we will build simulated cities, planned and unplanned, and study the economic models that govern (and have governed) the world around us on a smaller scale. We'll move through history and look at systems devised by kings and ministers to run their countries, learning along with way what has worked consistently - or once in a blue moon.

First Step Trek -
Merrily We Row Along
Available to students
2 1/2 - 4 years of age

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 - 11:30am

Let's sail away with the owl and the pussycat and pretend we're away for a year and a day. Rhymes and tales for children will guide our tour. On our voyage we'll float beautiful pea green boats, dance with the cat and the fiddle, follow a map to Little Boy Blue's meadow, and work at learning tasks suggested by you and other "ten o'clock scholars."

Share Ideas - Gain Confidence - Have Fun

Tuition: $435.00 ($230.00 for First Step Trek program). All necessary materials and refreshments will be included.
