    The 1987-1988 Fieros, 1987-1992 Firebirds, 88-96 Corvette, and 88-02 Lotus Esprit and Elan , have the GM second generation redesigned headlight motors.  These are a very durable and very long lasting motor.  They are also easy to rebuild when they fail!   If your headlights fail to rise and the motors keep spinning, this rebuild kit will solve your problem.  If the motor(s) don't run you may have a wiring or controller problem.  If one actuator fails and the other probably isn't far behind.  Buy two sets and save time and money.

    I now also stock replacement metal actuator gears. If your old plastic GM gear shows any signs of deterioration, now is the perfect time to replace it with a solid metal gear. Never worry about plastic gear failure.

    The side cover gaskets are sometimes very brittle and may fall apart when the cover is removed to replace the drive pins. Order new laser cut side cover gaskets to ensure a quality rebuild!

Q: Why don't my headlights go up and down anymore? I hear the motor running, but they aren't moving?

A: The Second Generation headlight motors utilize drive pins, or bushings to mechanically connect the spinning motor spindle to the headlight lift mechanism. Over time, these bushings fail, and the motor is no longer able to power the headlights up and down.
