It is a concert of music used in the different forms of the theatre, from the “silver screen” to opera to plays. Charles Koechlin’s Epitath to Jean Harlow, Mouton’s arrangement of Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Darius Milhaud’s Suite Op. 157b, Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale Suite, and several William Bolcom Rags from his “Afternoon Cakewalk Suite.” The Debussy is a special arrangement where Chris will be playing bass clarinet to cover the part which was originally for cello. Very cool piece which goes through the opera thematically, and hits all the important highlights of it, in a very short amount of time. The concert will be held in Schroeder Auditorium. Dr. James B. Kinchen, Jr., Sturtevant, director of choral activities at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, has been conductor of the Choristers since 1993. He will conduct the private auditions and advises that no prepared material is necessary and no appointment is required. A potential member must be a high school graduate or at least 18 years old. Kinchen pointed out that a knowledge of music or previous choral experience will be beneficial to those auditioning. Singers accepted will join the Choristers in weekly rehearsals, from 7:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., beginning on Wednesday, September 5th, for their annual Christmas Concert.
