TOM'S LOVE FOR AVIATION

1941 Piper Cub J4E on Tom's Landing Strip

When Tom was young, his parents would drive him to the Waukesha County Airport-Crites Field to watch small airplanes take off and land. Tom was fascinated. Even now, when Tom hears an airplane, he stops what he is doing until he watches it fly by.

In 1979, Tom went to Crites Field just to find out what was involved in learning to fly. An instructor said: "It's your lucky day. I just had a cancellation." Without even exchanging names, and within minutes, Tom found himself airborne. Tom went on to get his private licence and an instrument rating.

Over the years, Tom has owned shares of several airplanes:

Tom flies mostly for pleasure and often to a strip he built at home, Bark River Airport.
